Before attempting the quiz for 1100 Words weeks 4 through 6, be sure you have thoroughly mastered the following:

laudable duress concur
chagrin acrimonious impunity
elicit (not illicit) inane (not insane) egregious
flagrant affluent eschew 
inexorable pernicious paucity
duplicity quell scurrilous
feint (not faint) belligerent precocious
sally (not Sally) aspirant admonish
distraught brash disdain

Don't know how to pronounce some of these words? Click here to look up a word in Merriam-Webster's Online College Dictionary. When you've found the word you want click on the " " symbol to hear the correct pronunciation. 

Remember there will be one "mystery word" (from weeks 4 through 6, of course) on the quiz that is not  on the list above. 

Bonus:

  • For this quiz the bonus will test your facility with analogies using the vocabulary words studied thus far. On the quiz, you will not be required to complete the analogies with vocabulary words, but you will not be able to complete the analogies correctly without a solid understanding of the vocabulary we have studied.
  • The following abbreviations have been used on the bonus section of the quiz:
    • : = is to
    • :: = as
    • "disdain : respect :: scoff : __________" reads "disdain is to respect as scoff is to __________"
  • Examples:  In order to test yourself, look at the first pair of words in each analogy. They will be related either as synonyms or antonyms. When you have decided upon the relationship, look at the third word and then fill in the blank to complete the analogy so that the second pair of words is related in the same way as the first pair.
    • furtive : stealthy :: hapless :  __________
