Module 1.1 begins our in-depth look at the reading process. In the second part of Module 1, we will look at the first of many tips for increasing reading efficiency and effectiveness. Vocabulary Module 1 will address the importance of vocabulary.

Module 1.1 - Reading as a Complex Cognitive Process 
In part one of this module we will begin our overview of the reading process by considering the definition of reading, some factors affecting comprehension, and the stages of reading.

What is the importance of background knowledge?
Why is it important to read widely and read a lot?
