Orientation Information
Applicants
accepted into the program are required to attend a mandatory
Academy Orientation
Day. The class will be held from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm on the designated day at
the Palomar College Public Safety Training Center, 184 Santar Place, San Marcos,
CA 92069. Recruits accepted into the Academy Program must report no later than
5:50 a.m. on the date and time scheduled for the Orientation
and in appropriate
courtroom attire. Recruits arriving after 5:50 a.m. will be terminated from the
Academy program immediately. All applicants must bring the following:
- Valid
government-issued picture ID
- A
personal check or money order payable to Palomar College for
material fees ($590)
- Cash or credit card for physical fitness training gear (approximately
$250)
- Other documents and items as specified by the Academy

Failure
to pay using the method(s) detailed, or failure to pay the full amount will
result in immediate termination from the
program
The amount of the fees for the uniforms and physical fitness
training gear will vary, depending on the amount ordered.
- Recruits will be required to purchase a Palomar College
parking permit ($40.00) and a Police Academy Student ID Card ($15.00)
separately. Parking permits will be required each block of the
Academy.
- Recruits are required to purchase uniforms according to
strict guidelines. Information and instructions will be provided on
Orientation Day.
- Recruits are required to obtain a Live Scan fingerprint
firearms clearance at an authorized Live Scan vendor. The fee will be
approximately $75.00 but will vary based on the vendor rolling fee.
The paperwork for this firearms clearance will be provided at Orientation
Day.
- Recruits will be required to pay for tuition fees each
block directly to the Cashier's Office of Palomar College.
Information and instructions regarding all required documents,
items and fees will be provided in advance by the Academy Training Staff.
