May - October 2009
The architectural plans have been submitted to the
California Department of the State Architect (DSA) for approval.
Presentation of the planetarium design was made to the
College Governing Board in early July. Bidding for the
project will occur late in the Fall.
August 2008 - April 2009
Ongoing meetings between the Design Team, College
Administration, and the tBP architects are enabling us to design
the new planetarium for Palomar College. Details can be
found by clicking "The New Planetarium" link above.
July 2008
The Sciences Quad - home to the old planetarium -
was demolished over the course of the month of July (pictures are available
under the "Demolition" tab above).
June 2008
The
old planetarium
was prepared for demolition. Planning for the new planetarium
officially entered the design phase.
May 2008
The old planetarium hosted its last group on May 15th. Packing
began on May 22nd and lasted a week.
April 2008
An architectural firm was hired.

Architecture will be working with a committee
of Palomar College faculty and staff to design the new
planetarium.
August 2007
A nationwide search begins for an architect
for the new planetarium.
November 2006
The
Proposition M School Bond measure passes with a 57% majority. Palomar College begins planning for
campus construction including a new planetarium to replace the
old one. The new planetarium will be built on the north-east
side of campus
next to the new Natural Science building.
