Palomar Dance Festival

An exciting evening of modern dance graces the Brubeck stage with dancers and choreographers from SDSU, Palomar College, MiraCosta College, Mesa College, Cal State San Marcos, Axxiom Dance Collective, and OPUS MIXTUS Post Jazz Ensemble. Directed by Molly Faulkner.

February 24

Peter Gach: PianoPhase

Palomar’s Artist-in-Residence teams with fellow faculty pianist Ellen Weller and other guests for a series of rousing duets in various styles. Featured will be Steve Reich’s Piano Phase, Weller’s 19:18 (scored for two pianos and “community”), and three new compositions by Jonathan Fadner.

Luann: Scenes in a Teen's Life

A musical by Greg Evans

Evans’ popular comic strip to comes to life on the Brubeck stage in the form of a humorous, high-energy musical concerning teenage friendships, popularity, confusion and the question of unrequited love. Directed by Dana Case.

Palomar Chorale

America Singing:

Shape Notes, Folk Hymns and White Spirituals

American choral music is featured, including arrangements by David Chase of music from the Sacred Harp tradition of the early 19th century and Kentucky Psalms by Alice Parker. Conducted by Sally Husch Dean. Dr. Steven Gray, piano.

Palomar Symphony

Pianist Bryan Verhoye performs the Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor. Also featured will be Mozart’s Magic Flute Overture and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1. Conducted by Douglas Bruck.

Palomar Chamber Singers

Orpheus and Euridice

by Christoph Willibald Gluck

Known for both noble simplicity and musical intrigue, this French opera follows the poet/singer Orpheus on his travels through the underworld in an attempt to retrieve his love Eurydice. Music direction by David Chase. Stage direction by Michael Mufson.

Peter Gach, piano

All Chopin

If there is a feather in Peter Gach’s cap, it may well belong to Chopin. Featured will be a collection of Mazurkas, the F# minor Polonaise and the G minor Ballade.
