Concert Hour is a music enrichment series presented for our students and the community by the Palomar College Performing Arts Department. Concerts take place in the Performance Lab (Room D-10). Doors open at 12:20,with seating on a first-come first-served basis. The program begins at 12:30 and ends at 1:20. Late arrivals are admitted to the hall and seated during a performance pause as long as seats are available. There is no charge for admission.Campus police can provide patrons coming from off campus with guest parking passes and give directions to legal parking areas. Patrons are urged to allow sufficient time to secure parking and reach the Performance Lab before the concert begins.

FEBRUARY 11 QUARTETTO SORRENTO Music from Mozart, Debussy and original compositions from Sorrento cellist Gordon Grubbs round out this first-time visit from a fine local string quartet.
FEBRUARY 18 ARC TRIO Palomar alumnus Nathan Hubbard (drums) joins SDSU’s Rick Helzer (piano) and Justin Grinnell (bass) for adventurous jazz-based improvisations.
FEBRUARY 25 WEI-WEI LE, violin; CAROLYN GROSSMAN, piano Award-winning Wei-wei Le and Palomar alumnus Carolyn Grossmann perform a program of Mozart, Debussy and Sarasate.
MARCH 4 GREGORIO GONZALEZ, baritone Exquisite vocal stylings from one of Palomar’s most revered graduates! Look for Zarzuela Romanzas by Moreno Torroba, operatic arias by Mozart, Donizetti and Korngold mixed with Latin American standards and musical theater selections.
MARCH 11 FOUR HANDS: MOREBELLO/RATHJE DUO Pianists Ronald Morebello and Vera Rathje perform a “four hands” program featuring music from Dvorak, Schumann, Clark, Piazzola and Mendelssohn.
MARCH 18 THE WELLERS Palomar Music faculty and jazz multi-instrumentalists Bob and Ellen Weller are joined by sons Danny (bass) and Charlie (drums) for vivacious swing in a family way.

APRIL 15 YOSHITAKE EXPE Japanese electronic guitarist/composer Yoshitake Expe creates wave of transcendental soundscapes from a range of influences including ambient, funk, electronic and Brazilian music.
APRIL 22 FRED BENEDETTI/PETER SPRAGUE Two of the Southland’s finest guitarists deliver (in their own words) “original Brazilian(ish) tunes, new angles on Beatles music, blues, warped Celtic music and Flamenco jam time.”
