Introduction to Technical Theatre

A general survey of technical theatre including stagecraft, lighting, sound design, costuming, make-up, production organization, business management, and promotion. Course will include practical skills in all areas. CSU; UC

 

107 Special Effects of Light and Sound

Two hours lecture-Four hours Laboratory (3)

Prerequisite: TA 105

Techniques, theories, and procedures necessary to develop sound, music, and lighting effects integrated into film, television, and theatre production. Practical experience in college productions. CSU; UC

 

106 Elementary Stage Costume

Two hours lecture-Four hours laboratory (3)

Prerequisite: TA 105

Basic theories, techniques, and procedures of costume production for stage, film, and television. Practical training in college productions. CSU; UC

 

108 Stagecraft/Scene Design

Two hours lecture-Four hours laboratory (3)

Prerequisite: TA 105

Technical practices and organization of production for theatre, film, and television. Practice in drafting, designing, and construction of scenery for college productions. CSU; UC

 

109 Elementary Stage Make-Up

Two hours lecture-Four hours laboratory (3)

Prerequisite: TA 105

Basic theories, techniques, and procedures of make-up production for stage, film, and television. Practical training in college productions. CSU; UC

 

111 Technical Theatre Production

One and one-half hours lecture-laboratory (.5)

Prerequisite: TA 105

Co requisite: TA 106, 107, 10S, or 109

Techniques and procedures for all phases of technical theatre production with an emphasis on production organization. Practical training through college production. May be taken four times. CSU; UC

 

 

170 Computer Aided Drafting for Theatre

Six hours lecture-laboratory (3)

Prerequisite: TA 10S

Basic introduction to computer aided drafting using AutoCAD software and IBM compatible or Macintosh computers. Hands-on experience with AutoCAD to include basic mechanical drafting terminology and techniques. An introduction to user specific third party software as related to drafting and designing of scenery for college productions. May be taken two times. CSU   182 Introduction to Arts

 

197D Stage Crew Workshop

One and one-half hours to nine hours laboratory (. 5-3) Prerequisite: Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in, TA 105 or 111. Participation in college dramatic and musical productions as a member of the stage crew or house staff. At least one unit of this course is required of all theatre arts majors.
