arts. Includes an historical and social contexts of live performance. This

View of the Short Play
Six
hours lecture-laboratory

Prerequisite: TA 100 or 115
An
exploration of cultural and social diversity through intensive investigation of
the short play. Students will study the works of several artists with varied
views and backgrounds, including segments on African, African- American, Asian,
Hispanic, and gay and lesbian theatre. Each student will also participate in the
acting, directing and/or technical aspects of several short works, culminating
in the performance of the "Short Play Festival." May be taken

Beginning Oral Interpretation

introduction to the oral reading of prose, poetry and drama in distinct and
inter-textual formats. Models of critical analysis will be applied to written
literature and reading will be performed and evaluated by applying principles of
