Palomar College Televsion Gets New Name

SAN MARCOS (October 3, 2005) – Palomar College Television (PCTV) has lots of “news” – a new name, a new logo and a new look to the PCTV website.

According to PCTV Producer Bill Wisneski, “We changed our channel name to Palomar College Television to more clearly define us as a resource of Palomar College. Community members watching our channel may not know that Educational Television is based here at Palomar. The name Palomar College Television also more clearly defines us as a media resource for the campus community. We offer extensive services beyond producing traditional telecourses and the name change better represents this.

We offer extensive services beyond producing traditional telecourses and the name change better represents this. “We have plans to increase the amount of North County community related programming that we produce,” Wisneski said, noting that a faculty discussion program and mayoral roundtable are in the works. “The channel is an important educational resource for the community and a promotional tool for the college. PCTV broadcasts to more than 250,000 homes on Channel 16 (COX North) and channel 67 (Adelphia).”

Wisneski said that as part of the new channel branding, PCTV worked with a graphic artist to design a new channel logo, which “ties into the Palomar College logo but with a different feel.”

In addition, the PCTV department website has been completely redesigned with the help of a web designer.

“The new Palomar College Television website is a much more comprehensive site for students, staff, faculty and the community and it is the centerpiece of our new marketing campaign,” Wisneski said. “We believe the site is the most comprehensive community college television site in the state, possibly the country, offering extensive streaming media, virtual facility tours, daily channel line-ups, course information for students, video sales, and much more.”
