What are Video Classes Online?

Video Classes Online combines Video Class instruction with an online component. Students enrolled in a Video Class Online course meet with their professors and fellow students in a virtual classroom. Other course work assignments, discussion, group work, etc. is accomplished through the internet. Students interact online to receive information about assignments, send homework, participate in class discussions, and conduct research.

Why take a Video Class Online course?

Video Class Online courses at Palomar College offer additional flexibility for students to access video-based course material. In addition, Video Class Online courses provide opportunities to further the student's educational goals by enhancing access to instructors, course materials and class discussions via Blackboard, an online course management system.

What is the delivery format for a Video Class Online course?

Video Class Online students view lessons on a weekly schedule and communicate with the instructor and other students via the internet using Blackboard.

There are 3 ways to view your video lessons: Cox North-Channel 15 and Time Warner Channel 67, College Library Videotape checkout and at Escondido, Mt. Carmel, Ramona, and Fallbrook sites; online viewing using Blackboard Learning system.

  1. View Video Classes on Palomar College's Television channels at their regularly scheduled times through Cox North on channel 16 and at Time Warner on channel 67.
  2. View Video Classes by checking out the course videocassettes for one week at a time for free. There are four lessons on each tape. Checkout locations are at the main campus in San Marcos (LRC) and at the Escondido, Mt. Carmel, Ramona and Fallbrook sites.. For videotape availability for the main campus please call 760-744-1150, ext. 2624.
  3. View video lessons online using the Blackboard Learning system. There will be a button titled “Videos” for you to access each lesson.
What is expected of me?

To be successful in a Video Class Online course students are expected to:

  • View weekly lessons
  • Have an email account and access to the World Wide Web
