Se Habla Español
This is an introduction to the Se Habla Español series. “Bienvenidos” outlines the series by discussing the different regions where Spanish is spoken and offers tips for successful language learning.
2) ¿Cómo te llamas?
Basic greetings and farewells are presented in this program. The verb “ser” and basic adjectives are also incorporated to build vocabulary and allow for basic descriptions.
3) Me gusta…
Program begins with a basic review of the previous segment. New material includes numbers, the verb “gustar” and use of the formal “Ud.” and informal “tú” when addressing people. The cultural segment explores the music and dance of various Spanish-speaking countries.
4) La hora
Program includes a review and practice of the numbers. New material consists of sections on telling time and the verb “hay”. New vocabulary related to classroom objects is also incorporated to build vocabulary.
5) Los artículos
“Los artículos” begins with an extensive review of the verb “hay” and telling time. Definite and indefinite articles and the gender of nouns complete the new material in this program.
6) Verbos – ar
This segment includes a brief review of the verb “hay” and articles. New verbs and words incorporated to build vocabulary include “-ar” verbs and school subjects. Subject pronouns and conjugating “-ar” verbs are the focus of the grammar section. Includes a cultural note on universities in the Spanish-speaking world.
7) Las profesiones
Review of many of the concepts presented in earlier programs. These include greetings, the verb “ser”, subject pronouns and conjugating “-ar” verbs. Includes new vocabulary to identify professions.
8) Formando preguntas
This program includes more review of “-ar” verbs and practice. In addition, new material includes forming negative sentences, asking questions and two new verbs: “desear” and “necesitar”.
A basic review of negative sentences and asking questions starts the program. New material includes adjectives, adjective placement and the numbers from 400 to 100.???
10) Los verbos – er, -ir
Program continues to explore the present tense by introducing “-er” and “-ir” verbs. The rules for conjugating these verbs are presented and are followed by practice activities. Time expressions and a review of adjective placement are also covered.
11) La familia
“La familia” includes an introduction to the vocabulary related to the family. It also includes a cultural note that discusses the family structure of the Spanish-speaking world. Also included is a review of “-er” and “-ir” verbs and the verb “ser”.
12) El verbo tener
Program begins with the use of possessive adjectives and a review of the vocabulary related to the family. New grammar includes the verb “tener” and its application when describing age.
This is the first of five review sessions done throughout this series. “Repaso” includes a review of the family, numbers, adjective placement, the verb “ser”, and “-er” and “-ir” verbs. This program gives additional examples and review activities.
14) Expresiones con tener
Program begins with a complete review of the forms of the verb “tener” in the present tense. An introduction to expressions with “tener” follows. Finally, irregular verbs in the present tense are introduced and conjugated.
15) Hablando del futuro
The program begins with a review and more practice of the expressions using the verb “tener”. The vocabulary for expressions of time is presented. Includes an introduction to the verb “ir” and its use to indicate direction and future actions. Finally, there is an introduction to the vocabulary of nationalities and a review of irregular verbs in the present tense.
16) El verbo estar
The introduction to the verb “estar” and new vocabulary to describe conditions are the main focus of this program. Also included are prepositions, days of the week, and a review of “tener” expressions and future actions with the verb “ir”.
17) Ser y estar
Program begins with an extensive review of the days of the week, prepositions and the verb forms of “ser” and “estar”. Continues with an introduction to the different uses of “ser” and “estar”. Includes a variety of exercises using the verbs “ser” and “estar”.
Program includes a comprehensive review of the verbs “ser” and “estar”. A new list of interrogative words is introduced. The program concludes with making comparisons and a variety of activities.
19) Repaso II
The second of five review sessions throughout this series. “Repaso II” includes a review of the uses of the verbs “ser” and “estar”, prepositions, comparisons, and expressing future actions using the verb “ir” followed by an infinitive. Includes examples and review activities.
Program begins with a review of the material presented in the previously, comparisons. New material presented covers the superlative forms. The program concludes with an introduction of the colors.
21) Verbos e-ie
Program includes and introduction to stem-changing verbs. The episode focuses on one type of stem-changing verb, the “e-ie” verbs in the present tense. New verbs are introduced and conjugated. New vocabulary to describe articles of clothing is presented. A cultural note on clothing in the Spanish-speaking world is also included.
22) La ropa
This program begins with a review of the vocabulary to describe clothing as well as a review of the stem-changing verbs “e-ie”. New material presented in this episode includes the ordinal numbers and some of the unique uses of the definite article.
23) Verbos e-i, o-ue
Program begins with a review of the ordinal numbers. This episode introduces the “e-i” and “o-ue” stem-changing verbs in the present tense. The numbers 100 and higher are also presented. Episode concludes with an activity using the numbers to identify the prices of items.
24) Repaso de los verbos
This episode does an overall review of the conjugations and definitions of verbs in the present tense. The episode reviews the conjugations of “-ar”, “-er”, and “-ir” regular verbs, and a review of stem-changing verbs. Practice includes forming complete sentences, and asking and answering questions using verbs in the present tense.
25) La música
This program focuses on the music of the Spanish-speaking world. Styles of music and vocabulary from popular songs are presented. This episode includes a segment with a guest speaker singing traditional songs in Spanish. Program ends with an activity using vocabulary and fragments of songs heard in the episode.
26) La casa
This program begins with an introduction to the vocabulary to describe the house. Program continues with a lesson on the uses of negative and affirmative expressions and the use of prepositions with infinitives. Concludes with an activity practicing the vocabulary to describe the house.
27) Expresiones impersonales
Program begins with a review of the vocabulary used to describe the house. Practice continues with an activity using the affirmative and negative expressions. New material in this episode includes an introduction to the use of the impersonal “se” and an activity identifying the languages spoken in the Caribbean and Central America.
28) El progresivo
Program begins with a brief review of the impersonal “se”. Presented in this episode are the forms of the present progressive and a review of the conjugations of the verb “estar”. Also included is a lesson on the use of prepositions with personal pronouns and prepositions followed by an infinitive. Concludes with an activity to review the prepositions.
29) Saber o Conocer
Begins with a review of the present progressive tense. New material in this episode includes the conjugations and the differences in use of the verbs “saber” and “conocer”. An introduction is give to the use of the personal “a”. Episode concludes with an activity using the verbs “saber” and “conocer” to with a map of Mexico.
30) Verbos reflexivos
Begins with a review of the verbs “saber” and “conocer” seen in the previous episode. In this episode, new material covered focuses on the use and the conjugations of the reflexive verbs in the present tense. In addition to the forms and conjugations, the position of reflexive pronouns is also covered.
This program is the third in a series of five review sessions. It begins by reviewing the vocabulary used to describe the house. This episode reviews the points covered in the previous six episodes. Review includes negative and affirmative expressions, uses of the verbs “saber” and “conocer”, the present progressive tense, the impersonal “se”, and reflexive verbs.
32) Los adjetivos
In this program reflexive verbs are reviewed at length in the beginning and at the end of the episode. New material introduced includes the demonstrative adjectives and pronouns. Episode includes practice using these demonstrative expressions.
33) Los acentos escritos
Episode begins with a practice of the demonstrative adjectives. Focus of this program is the use of written accent marks. Rules for pronunciation and syllable stress are also included.
34) Los mandatos
Begins by identifying words that carry written accent marks. New material covered in this episode includes the use of the formal “Ud.” and “Uds.” commands and where to place pronouns in the command form.
35) El clima
Program begins with review of the formal commands seen in the previous episode. The focus of this episode is the expressions used to describe the weather and the seasons of the year. The geography of South America is also covered.
36) Los días festivos
This program begins with an introduction to the vocabulary used to describe of the holidays and celebrations of the Spanish-speaking world. Episode includes an interview with a guest speaker who shares some of the details of the way holidays are celebrated. Concludes with scenes from the Corpus Christi celebrations of Peru.
37) La comida
The program begins with an introduction to the vocabulary to describe food. Categories of foods are also presented. Episode includes a visit to a restaurant and the conversation between waiter and customer. Other new material presented in this episode is the use of the verb “gustar” and other similar expressions.
38) Los pronombres I
The episode begins with a review of the vocabulary to describe food. Additional practice is also done with the verb “gustar”. New material covered in this episode is the direct object pronouns.
39) Los pronombres II
Episode begins with continued practice of the direct object pronouns used when answering questions. This program introduces the use of the indirect object pronoun and the placement of the pronouns and objects in a sentence. Also covered in this program are the uses and differences between the verbs “pedir” and “preguntar”.
40) Los pronombres III
Program begins with a continuation of the differences between the verbs “pedir” and “preguntar”. This episode introduces the use of the indirect object pronouns and then covers the use of the double object pronouns: the indirect and direct object pronouns used together.
41) Repaso Final I
This program is the first of two final review episodes for the series. The episode begins by reviewing the interrogative words, the formal commands forms “Ud.” y “Uds.” and double object pronouns. It ends with an activity to identify the meanings of infinitives and the conjugation of verbs in the present tense.
42) Repaso Final II
This final episode of the program reviews the conjugations of the present tense, the present progressive expressed with the verb “estar”, the uses of the verb “ir” to describe destination and future actions, and a comparison of the differences between the verbs “ser” and “estar”.
