The play Ofrenda was first performed at the MainStreet Oceanside Día de los Muertos Festival in 2002. Subsequently the play was performed (with various revisions and changes) in 2003 and 2004. During the rehearsals of Autumn 2004, the play inspired various members of Dionisio Troupe to adapt the play into an independent film. In March 2006 the film was screened at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival and won the Best International Director Award for feature international films.
