Essentials of Oceanography, 10th Edition

The 10th Edition of Essentials of Oceanography is available in both print and e-Text versions and features substantial reorganization including a new chapter on "The Oceans and Climate Change." The text also features many Web-based resources, including:

  • A suite of 45 geoscience animations (including seven new animations specifically designed for this edition), which are state-of-the-art computer animations that have been created by Al Trujillo and a panel of geoscience educators to help students visualize some of the most challenging oceanographic concepts.

  • An Online Study Guide, which includes self-testing modules for each chapter that are written by Al Trujillo (for a student access code, see the "Your Access to Success" card inside the front cover of each textbook).

  • New Web Videos, which are links to some of the best short oceanographic video clips on the Web.

  • Web Tables and Web Boxes migrated to the Online Study Guide from the previous edition.

Essentials of Oceanography 10th Edition recently received a prestigious 2012 "Texty" textbook excellence award. The Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA), which grants the award, recognizes printed works for their excellence in the areas of content, presentation, appeal, and teachability. The publisher, Pearson Education, nominated the book for the award and the textbook was critically reviewed by a panel of expert judges. The award will be presented in June at an award ceremony luncheon during TAA’s annual conference.
