Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) - Version V

The Chancellor’s Office has recommended that the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) be utilized as a pre-admission test for perspective nursing students, with a required cumulative passing score of 62%. The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) provides a basic diagnostic assessment of a person’s knowledge of Math, English, Reading, and Science.

There is not cost to take the TEAS test at Palomar College for perspective nursing students. The Palomar College Nursing Program receives grant funds from the state to administer the TEAS test. Perspective nursing students are able to take the TEAS at Palomar College once, if they reach a passing score of 62% or better. The TEAS test can be repeated once, if a composite score of 62% or higher is not reached the first time. Remediation is offered if a passing score is not achieved.
