Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) - Version V Required
|
A ruling from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office
mandates that nursing programs receiving grant funds from the state are required to have perspective nursing students pass a
preadmission test prior to being admitted.
The Chancellor’s Office has recommended that the
Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
be utilized as the pre-admission test, with a required cumulative
passing score of 62%. The TEAS provides a basic diagnostic assessment of
a person’s knowledge of Math, English, Reading, and Science. Resources for
the exam can be found at
ATI online store link.
|
|
|
The TEAS Exam should NOT be taken until after
completion of the required prerequisites.
|
- People taking the TEAS must set up
an account with
ATI Testing prior to
taking the TEAS exam.
- Applicants are required to take the
TEAS exam prior to applying. The application points for the
TEAS will be based on the first score achieved. Your TEAS
score must accompany your Nursing Program Application.
- We no longer accept a passing TEAS score beyond two attempts.
This means that if you
have taken the TEAS more than two times with a failing
score, you are ineligible for the Nursing Program at Palomar
College. Perspective students will not be able to defer
entry due to an inadequate TEAS score.
- Perspective students that have taken
the TEAS at other schools should contact ATI testing
http://www.atitesting.com/ati_store/, click on "products
for students" and scroll down to the transcript link. Within
48 hours of ordering, your scores will be electronically
transmitted to Palomar College.
- Current Wait List: Your TEAS score must be on
file when your Wait List number comes up for acceptance or
you will be removed from the Wait List.
