Pre-Entrance Requirements for Nursing Program
 

Required Support Classes for Nursing Curriculum

1.  Nursing Orientations: Call Nursing Department for dates & times (760) 744-1150, ext. 2279

1.  Psychology (not 140 or 205)

2.   Composite score of 67% or higher on the Test of Essential Skills (TEAS)-required prior to entering the program but cannot be taken until meeting the prerequisite requirements and getting on the wait list.
 
2.  Sociology (not 140 or 205)

3.  Speech (not 145 or 150)

4. English Composition

3.  High School Grad or equivalency or higher

 

4.  Intermediate Algebra or higher or test

Additional A. A. Degree Requirements

A cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is required in the following science prerequisites:

*Courses (Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology) not taken at Palomar College must be equivalent to Palomar's, include a lab and have 4-5  semester units.

 

5.  Humanities (3 units)

4.  Anatomy with Lab   (ZOO 200) (Time limit=10 yrs.)

5.  Physiology with Lab (ZOO 203) (Time limit=5 yrs.)

6.  Microbiology with Lab (MICRO 200)  (Time limit=5 yrs.)

LVN/RN Transition (Nursing 110)  
 

LVNs must also complete Nursing 110.
(Time Limit=2years)
This class isoffered during the Fall semester & a copy of current, valid California LVN License must be on file in Nursing Dept. prior to registering.
