SAN MARCOS (September 28, 2009) – Palomar College student Daniel Graupmann of Corona received a Second Place award for his entry in Fresh Wood, a national competition for woodworking projects, sponsored by the Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers (AWFS). Awards were presented in Las Vegas earlier this summer as part of the AWFS®Fair, an international trade show featuring products and supplies for the woodworking industry. Graupmann’s entry, a hand-made desk titled Kurven, placed in the Reproduction, Tables category. The desk was one of 165 entries from 49 different post-secondary institutions and high schools in the United States and Canada.

Graupmann built the table over two semesters as a project for classes in Palomar’s Cabinet and Furniture Technology (CFT) program. Graupmann’s instructors were Jack Stone for CFT 110 and Gary Russell for CFT 111.
