film drama
based on an actual strike against the Empire Zinc Mine in New
Mexico, the film deals with the prejudice against the Mexican-American workers,
it will be screening at. the upcoming
April Monthly Cine Club!

Synopsis: “Salt
of the Earth” is a winner-award movie based on a long conflict
against the Empire Zinc Mine in New Mexico, the film deals with the prejudice
against the Mexican-American workers, who struck to attain wage parity with
Anglo workers in other mines and to be treated with dignity by the bosses. This
film was written, directed and produced by members of the original "Hollywood
Ten," blacklisted for refusing to answer Congressional inquiries. Genrer: Drama
1 hour 34 minutes.
Screening will followed by an interesting discussion of the movie by Palomar faculty Prof. Daniel Finkenfall with the contribution of Muriel Jenks widow of Clinton Jenks (one of the notable actors of the movie)
