 “Macario’s Tragedy”

What: Palomar College Multicultural Studies Department is proud to present the return of Cine Club, a Monthly Multicultural Film Series. This Fall 2008 we will be screening every month fascinating movies. The premier of Cine Club is scheduled for Friday September 26 at 6:30pm. The beginning of this exciting film cycle is marked with a marvelous International Award Winner movie: “La Tragedia de Macario” (Macario Tragedy) (2006).

Pablo Veliz directs this film about his native Texas and the many Mexican immigrants who have attempted to make it home. Just 23 years old at the time the film was made, Veliz offers an understanding glimpse into the struggles of the immigrant experience. TRAGEDIA DE MACARIO is based on true events.
