< Back to Library Information
The Library relies heavily on the suggestions and requests of Faculty for
the development of its print, non-print, and electronic collection of
resources. If you would like the Library to acquire a specific book,
periodical, media item, online database, or other resource for our
collection, reserve a film for showing in one of your classes, receive a
donation, add a link to an Internet resource on the Library web site, or
borrow items from another institution, please let us know. Below is a guide
for who to contact, as well as brief summaries of the processes. Books and Media

Other Internet Resources
Process: In addition to the Library's resource collection, we also maintain web
pages with links to valuable Internet resources. If there is a web site that you
believe should be included (or one that should be deleted!) on any of the
Library's web pages, please contact Jay
Baker, Systems & Technology Librarian, x3696.
Donations
Contact: Jay Baker, Acquisitions
Librarian (Interim) x3696 or Tamara

Process: Donations may be brought to the Library Donations Station (located just
inside the loading dock entrance to the Library) at any time during regular
business hours. However, it is recommended that you first contact Jay Baker (for
books or media) or Tamara Weintraub (for periodicals) to discuss a donation. The
Library welcomes and accepts all donations, particularly of materials that have
current application to the research and learning needs of its users, but
reserves the right to not add donations to the collection and dispose of such
items as appropriate.
Media Booking (borrowing and Media Consortium purchases)
Contacts:
Borrowing: Anne Stephan, x3231
Purchase requests: Jay Baker,
Acquisitions Librarian (Interim), x3696
Process: Palomar College is a member of the San Diego County Office of Education
(SDCOE) Community College Media Consortia. SDCOE maintains a cooperative
collection of videos and DVDs that may be used by faculty from any of the
community colleges in the County, usually for the purpose of classroom
instruction. Palomar College also purchases media for the cooperative
(generally, items that would not be purchased for the Library's own collection
due to cost and/or usage frequency).
To borrow items in this collection, or to find out which items are in this
collection, go to
http://www.palomar.edu/library/mediabook.htm. To request items to purchase
for the cooperative, contact Jay Baker.
Previewing Media (videos or DVDs)
Contact: Anne Stephan, x3231
Process: The Library can obtain from publishers or distributors copies of films
and videos that faculty wish to preview before ordering for either the Library's
collection or the Consortia.
Interlibrary Loans
If you wish to simply borrow a book or obtain articles that the Library does not
own, we may be able to obtain it for you from another institution (rather than
purchase copies for our permanent collection). For interlibrary loans, fill out
and submit the
book
ILL form or periodical
article ILL form.
