The Rare Book Room has a very unique collection of materials ranging from a
Holy Bible, King James Version, printed in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1791
to a paperback of John Steinbeck's Cup of Gold printed in 1929 to a
folio of Jackson's Famous Pictures dated 1895 from Chicago and series
of Punch dated 1860-1922. The room is kept locked and permission must be obtained by a staff member to enter the room. Lights are kept off until the room is used. A staff member will remove the desired book from the shelf. Users may bring only a piece of paper and a pen/pencil into the room. |

Spend some time on the third floor of the library where you will find a good selection of children's books and the legal reserve section on the southwest end of the floor and an extensive religious section in the first few stacks of the northwest section. Unique titles range from Wombat Divine (a children's Christmas story), to The Joy of Sects and Great Religions of the World to Family Law.

| Palomar College Library holds a large
collection of newspapers on microfilm, including The London Times
from 1785 to 1971 and The New York Times from 1851 to current. Stop
in and take a look at the actual front pages covering the sinking of the

| In the Palomar Library, on the second floor near the
Circulation Desk, there is a fabulous scrapbook file of Palomar's history
dating back to its beginning in 1946.
There are also binders full of all the old Telescopes, Palomar's student paper, dating back to 1947. This is a wonderful in-depth collection of Palomar College's history. |

Feeling nostalgic for the 90's? Take a look at Palomar Library's collection of old class schedules and catalogs, dating back to 1990.

reserve areas for nursing and legal materials?
| The Nursing Reserve is a small, select collection including the latest and greatest nursing resources. It's located in the SE corner of the 2nd floor. |

| Need some legal advice? Take a look at the "Legal Reserve" area located in the SW corner of the 3rd floor. There is a large collection of donated legal books and serials, such as Deering California Codes and California Forms & Pleadings & Practice. | |

| Hidden away on the third floor, behind a locked door, is a storage area for old periodicals, i.e., National Geographic 1914-; Scribners Monthly 1879-; Ladies Home Journal 1900-; Lippincott's Magazine 1877-. Also tucked away, in disarray, are old ILL drawers; a portable microfilm reader; tattle tape; Christmas lights; Hawaiian decorations; dummy books; books to be bound or discarded; patriotic posters; and a power stapler. | The bound issues of the Literary Digest (1914-1936) are shelved in the far back corner of the periodical stacks on the 2nd floor.
