Dynamite Nick Lane

Thursdays 7PM-10PM PST/PDT

About the show:

Time to kick the volume up to ELEVEN!! Dynamite Nick is my name and hard rock and heavy metal is my game! Join me every Thursday night from 7pm to 10pm as I take you through a three hour journey of nothing but the loudest, hardest, heaviest hard rock and heavy metal! We run the gamut: classic and obscure hard rock, classic punk rock, proto-punk, proto-metal, traditional heavy metal, New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, power metal, speed metal, thrash metal, progressive metal, death metal, doom metal and maybe even a little hair metal now and then. In other words, if it's hard and loud, it's played here! But no nu-metal and metalcore....sorry posers and mall kids!

At 8:00, we do a little thing here called "The Three Point Shot", where I play three songs in a row with a common theme, be it lyrical theme, same music scene, country, time frame, three songs from one band, related bands, WHATEVER! It's a heavy metal history lesson! I'll also try to mix in rare, unreleased songs, deep album cuts, along with the fan faves. I also have a segment in the final hour I like to call Nick's Dynamite Covers where I'll play one cover song (a band playing another band's song) every week.

Favorite Bands and Artists:

Let me set the record straight, right here, right now: I am a die hard metalhead, now and forever and damn proud of it. I'm also a huge fan of classic rock, particularly the harder stuff from that era, as well as some old school punk from the 70's and 80's. I'm loud and proud, baby. My four favorite bands of all time are Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (ALL eras, not just Ozzy!), Alice Cooper and Overkill, or as I like to call them: "The Fearsome Four".

The following bands also fill my ears with joy: Scorpions, UFO, Rose Tattoo, Anthrax, Venom, Helloween, Iron Maiden, Dio, Tokyo Blade, Saxon, Accept, Exciter, Celtic Frost, Agent Steel, Testament, Led Zeppelin, Children Of Bodom, Exodus, Helstar, Hellhammer, Coroner, Motorhead, Megadeth, King Diamond, Rush, Kiss, Cro-Mags, Black Flag, Sanctuary, Thin Lizzy, Sodom, Montrose, Cage, Mercyful Fate, Crimson Glory, Armored Saint, Misfits, W.A.S.P., Bad Brains, Fear, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Running Wild, Angel Witch, old school Sepultura(from Beastial Devastation to Arise), Vio-Lence, Symphony X, Rainbow, Blue Cheer, The MC5, old school Def Leppard (Steve Clarke died and took Def Leppard with him!), Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Candlemass, New York Dolls, Heathen, Dokken, Jag Panzer, Deep Purple, Razor, MSG, Holocaust, Atheist, The Stooges, Diamond Head, Metal Church,  Frank Zappa, Halford, Bruce Dickinson, ZZ Top, Winger, Morbid Saint, Wolf, Van Halen, Sex Pistols, Iced Earth, Jeff Beck, Kreator, Obituary, Savatage, Cynic, Alice In Chains, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Stormwarrior, Joe Satriani, Dark Angel, Powermad, Samhain, Riot, Persuader, Fireball Ministry, Iron Angel, Motley Crue, Slayer, Ratt.....

I've also been getting into alot obscure hard rock from the 70's lately. Some good bands worth noting: Lucifer's Friend, Atomic Rooster, Buffalo, Leafhound, Flower Travelin' Band, Irish Coffee, The Godz, Jenghiz Khan, Budgie, Captain Beyond, Bloodrock, Starz, High Tide, Necronomikon,  Legs Diamond, Highway Robbery, Dust, Sir Lord Baltimore, Cain, Clear Blue Sky, Night Sun, Jerusalem, Salem Mass, just to name a few. And you will hear all these and more, sooner or later on The Blasting Zone.

About Nick:

Well, there really isn't much to say, as my journey has only just begun. I graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2003 (thanks in big part to a miracle and a prayer), with the sole dream of getting on the radio. It's been something I've wanted to do for several years now. I enrolled in RTV 130, here at Palomar for the first time in the Spring of 2004...which didn't exactly end as planned. But I picked myself up, dusted myself off and walked on, dream still intact. I enrolled in RTV 130 again in the spring of 2005 with much better results. So, as you can see, radio means a lot to me and I'm happy to be doing it.

In addition to music and radio, I also enjoy some poetry (Langston Hughes, Edgar Allen Poe and Jack Kerouac RULE!), comic books (DC and DC/Vertigo) comics mostly, but I also enjoy the occasional Marvel and independent comic as well)... and my other huge passion...pro wrestling. Yes, that's right: PRO WRESTLING. I've had an undying love for it since the age of 3 (so I've been told) and I still love it to this day. And trust me, I'm a walking wrestling encyclopedia. I also co-host a wrestling talk show with fellow KKSMer, host of "Anything Goes", the Big JD, called "In The Ring With Nick And JD", right here on KKSM.
