INTERVIEW WITH AURAL VAMPIRE

Ron was able to interview Japanese techno-industrial band Aural Vampire.

Tell us about your band. How did you two meet and start?

Exo-Chika: When they were students, she started to talk to Raveman who was very shy because she was sitting next to him. He is still shy, but when he was a student, more shy. Before she talked to him, she was wondering who he was because He had unique atmosphere like a zonbi in the classroom.

    -The first conversation

Exo-Chika) What do you do usually? Because you have strange atmosphere”

Raveman) …I make…music

Exo-Chika) I will sing, so you should make music for me!

Then, they started to make original songs.

What are some the musical influences for aural vampire?

Exo-Chika) Raveman got inspiration from techno, noise of cities

She got inspirations from Enka which is sad and melancholic Japanese song, opera, and pops. Her favorite artist is Hibari Misora, who is famous Japanese artist.

How would you describe aural vampire?

Exo-Chika) It is industrial, techno, and vampire.

Raveman) Furthermore, it is important that Aural Vampire is part of Japanese music.

Any news about a possible tour of North America? And would there by any plans to hit the San Diego area?

Raveman) they are not going to come to San Diego. It is hard to go to every state in North America at the same time, but if they got offer, they would love to go to the place.

Describe your show, visual and musically. What can the audience expect from one of your live shows?

Exo-Chika) they always use image in their show. There are three important points that audiences can enjoy, Raveman, Exo-Chika, and image. If they cannot use image, they will make shows where audiences close to Aural Vampire that make the audiences excited.

Is there a new album in the works? What's new in the recording of your music?

Exo-Chika) we have not decided exactly, but they will release their music to people soon.

In her image for new album, she wants to keep original Aural Vampires sound. Also, she thinks that they can put variety of taste into the music.

Raveman) they already finished recording music that they have not released, and they might release their previous music for releasing with Avex, which is big Japanese entertainment company.

With new digital means like my space. The ways for bands to get their music heard and even get their bands signed are far different then they ever have been before. Have you found these methods to be helpful for your band?

Exo-Chika) it is very important because people who are not in Japan also can know Aural Vampire. She wants to send more their new music to people using new digital.

Raveman) He always checks new digital because he thinks that he wants to use new digital to develop Aural Vampire

Have you been recently collaborating with any other bands?

Exo-Chika) Yes, they did. They have corroborated with AKIRA YAMAOKA, who is a game sound creator, and performed with some famous artists in band style. Also, they sung BLOODs song with BLOOD for BLOODs CD. They want to collaborate more if they have chance to do that.
