Palomar Community College District is one of 109 California Community Colleges. Founded in 1946, the campus currently has almost 300 contract faculty serving a diverse student body of approximately 28,000 students.  The 250-acre campus is located in northern San Diego County. In addition to the San Marcos Campus, Palomar has 8 sites located throughout the 2,550 square mile district. Palomar offers more than 250 Associates Degree and certificate programs. Many Palomar students successfully transfer to four-year colleges and universities.  Palomar exists as an institution to enable its students to realize and achieve their goals both as individuals and as members of their communities and to become responsible citizens of an increasingly interdependent world.  Palomar College has received accreditation by both the  Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
