New International Student Orientation

Purpose
Orientation is designed to provide new international students with the information and tools they will need to make the most of their program here at Palomar College.  It is also the time for new students to meet other new international students and the International Student Program staff.
Description
New international students generally attend Orientation about 2 weeks before the start date of the semester they were accepted for.  There is only one Orientation session for each semester and attendance is mandatory.
Orientation generally includes:
  • Placement testing for ESL and Math classes
  • Check-In
  • Immigration information sessions
  • Academic information sessions
  • Cultural adjustment sessions
  • Counseling and Registration

Monday August 10th

8:00-9:00 a.m. - SU-103 - Immigration Check-In (*)

9:00-12:00 p.m. - Room TBA Welcome Session - Campus Information Session - Campus Tour
12:00-1:00 p.m. - SU-103 - Lunch (provided by the Office of International Education)
1:00-3:00 p.m. -Room TBA Department of Homeland Security Information Session
Tuesday, August 11th

9:00-12:00 p.m. - SU-1 & A-19 - Placement Testing - Math and ESL

12:00-1:00 p.m. - SU-103 - Lunch (provided by the Office of International Education)

1:00-3:00 p.m. - Room TBA Academic Information Session
Wednesday, August 12th 
9:00-12:00 p.m. - Room TBA - Counseling - Class Selection - Registration
12:00-1:00 p.m. - Lunch (on your own)
1:00-3:00 p.m. - Room TBA - Counseling - Class Selection - Registration
Thursday, August 13th 
9:00-12:00 - Room TBA - Academic Survival Session
12:00-1:00 p.m. - SU-103 - Lunch (provided by the Office of International Education)
1:00-3:00 - Room TBA - Academic Survival Session (cont.)
(*)  Please bring your passport, visa, I-94, I-20, your local address and medical insurance policy information to check in.
All newly accepted international students are required to attend all days of Orientation.  Failure to attend all days of Orientation will result in delayed registration.
