Application Information

Read this important information first…

  • Each applicant is required to submit all the needed application documents to the Palomar College Office of International Education before the application deadline date.
  • All documents must be in English.  If documents are not in English, they must be translated into English by a certified English translator, not by a notary public.
  • Copies of original, official forms are acceptable for application purposes. However, official transcripts are required if you wish to use prior credit earned to satisfy the requirements of your new program.
  • All documents submitted for application purposes become the property of Palomar College and will not be copied or returned.
  • Applications that are missing any documents are considered incomplete and will not, without prior approval, be considered for admission.
  • Email questions to:  intladm@palomar.edu
  • Allow 2 weeks for processing after all required documents are received in our office.  Processing time may be extended during peak times.  Our goal is to send your acceptance as soon as possible.
  • Submit all documents to intladm@palomar.edu in Adobe pdf format (pdf).  This is the preferred method of submission. Make sure all documents are legible and scanned as pdf formatted documents.

F1 Rules

  • Incoming international students must attend full-time. This means that students are required to take and finish at least 12 units each semester. Nine (9) units must be taken in-person. Anything above 9 units may be taken online.
  • Some majors (especially the computer science related majors), may not always be offered in-person. There may be times when you have to enroll in a class or classes that are not required for your major in order to keep your F-1 status.

OVERSEAS APPLICANTS
If you are Overseas or you have been out of the country for more than 5 months, please follow these instructions.

  1. Create a CCC Apply account. Click here for Step by Step Instructions.
    • In the Social Security Number area, select “Check this box if you do not have a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number.
    • In the Permanent Address area, select, “My permanent address is outside the United States” and enter your address in your home country as the “permanent address”.
    • PRINT the application and submit the pages with your other documents.
    • Please send us the CCID Number and the CONFIRMATION Number. We will need this information to have your application processed.  
  2. Download and save the application to your device and open with Acrobat Reader. Type the paper International Student Application completely and sign and date the last page. Please select a major from the list linked here
  3. Attach a passport size picture of your face in the upper right corner of the International Student Application.
  4. Gather bank statements. Minimum of $26,300 or equivalent in USD. Bank statements must be in English and dated within the last 6 months.
    • Forms of funding that are not acceptable are proof of mortgage, stocks, bonds, investments, and retirement accounts.
  5. Fill out the Affidavit of Financial Support form completely.  Sign it and have your sponsor sign it.
  6. Gather English proficiency test results. See acceptable tests linked here.
  7. Gather official transcripts of all high schools, colleges, and universities attended.
  8. Make a copy of your passport ID page.

Submit all documents to intladm@palomar.edu in Adobe Acrobat format (pdf).   This is the preferred method of submission. Make sure all documents are legible and scanned as pdf formatted documents.
Upon acceptance, we will issue the I-20 form and email it to you.  You need the I-20 form to make your visa appointment at the nearest U.S. Embassy.

TRANSFER APPLICANTS
If you have an I-20 from another school in the U.S. and you want to transfer to Palomar, follow these instructions.

  1. Create a CCC Apply account or login to CCCApply if you have an account. Instructions. 
    • In the Social Security Number area, select “Check this box if you do not have a Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number.
    • In the Permanent Address area, select, “My permanent address is outside the United States” and enter your address in your home country as the “permanent address”.
    • PRINT the application and submit the pages with your other documents.
    • Please send us the CCID Number and the CONFIRMATION Number. We will need this information to have your application processed.

  9. Make photocopies of official transcripts from all schools in which an I-20 was issued, including intensive English schools.
  10. Make a photocopy of your current visa.
  11. Make a photocopy of your I-94 card.    (Click here to get a copy of your I-94 card)
  12. Make a photocopy of ALL the I-20s ever issued to you.
  13. Fill out the Transfer Eligibility Form and give it to the international student advisor at your current school.

Submit all documents to intladm@palomar.edu  in Adobe Acrobat format (pdf). This is the preferred method of submission. Make sure all documents are legible and scanned as pdf formatted documents
Upon acceptance, show your international student advisor the acceptance letter so that he/she can transfer your SEVIS record to Palomar.
When we receive your SEVIS record, we will issue you the I-20 form from Palomar College and email it to you.

 

CHANGE OF STATUS APPLICANTS
If you are in the U.S. with a visa other than F-1 and you want to change your visa type to F-1, follow these instructions.
