College Health Nurse: Palomar College Health Services seeks Registered Nurses to work part-time at either the Escondido Center or the main campus in San Marcos. R.N. position will work some days but mostly evenings.  Applicants for the R.N. position should possess a B.S.N. degree, CPR certification and college or School Nurse certification or Public Health RN certification.  Experience with diverse populations is required.  Pay rate is $27.00/hour. GEAR UP Tutor/Mentor Applications are being accepted to work with the Palomar College GEAR UP Program.  Tutors will provide academic assistance in the form of tutoring individual, group and/or open sessions to appropriately facilitate student academic success.  Most tutors will work between 15-20 hours per week assisting teachers during periods in which teachers are teaching core subject areas such as Math, Science, Language Arts and ESL (English as a Second Language, ) and after school with homework.  Experience and Education: Possess a 2.5 or better cumulative G.P.A., be registered in 3 minimum credit units during summer and 6 minimum credit units during Fall/Spring semesters; knowledge, experience, and/or expertise in a subject matter, area, or activity that could be shared with GEAR UP participants in San Marcos and Vista partner schools; communicate knowledge of course content in a way that is meaningful to students; adapt to a variety of students with a wide range of abilities and diverse learning styles. LGBTQ Resource Center Assistant:  The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) Resource Center at Palomar College seeks an LGBTQ Resource Center Assistant to perform a variety of clerical duties and ensure a supportive, welcoming, and safe environment for Palomar College students, faculty, and staff. Qualifications: A high school diploma or the equivalent and prior clerical experience in an office setting; and sensitivity to and understanding of the ethnic, cultural, gender, sexual, socioeconomic, and disability diversity of community college students and employees. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office programs is preferred.

Key responsibilities include the following:

- Opening and closing the Resource Center and scheduling staffing to provide 

  coverage during office hours

- Tracking visitors' use of the Resource Center and its resources including the study 

  room, books, DVDs, and computers

- Keeping the Resource Center secure and maintaining visitors' confidentiality

- Assisting in organizing Resource Center programs and events

- Performing clerical tasks, including answering the phone; drafting, sending, and

  posting correspondence and announcements; taking notes at meetings and tracking 

  agenda meetings and minutes; and making copies

Salary and Other Information: Salary is $13.00/hour.  Work schedule:  5 hours a day, 3 days a week.  The Resource Center operates during the fall and spring semesters of each academic year and is closed during the summer, winter break, and spring break. Upward Bound Tutor/Mentor: Applications are being accepted to work with the Palomar College Upward Bound (UB) Program.  The goal of the UB Program is to assist first-generation, college-bound and/or low-income students enroll in and graduate from post-secondary institutions.  These college-bound high school students need assistance after school and at their high schools located in Oceanside, San Marcos, and Escondido (Oceanside High, El Camino High, Mission Hills High, San Marcos High, Escondido High, Orange Glen High, and San Pasqual High).  Assistance is needed in academic subjects such as: upper level Math, Biology, Chemistry, English, Writing, Literature, History, Foreign Languages, and many more.  Qualifications include: the ability to serve as a positive role model, subject expertise and proficiency, reliable transportation, and must be available to tutor at school sites during the following hours:  Mondays - Thursdays from 1:30 pm - 7:00 pm and/or Saturdays from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  Federal Work Study/Cal Works are encouraged to apply!  Applications are being accepted via email request to nmartinez@palomar.edu and are available from the Upward Bound website at  www.palomar.edu/upwardbound or by contacting the Upward Bound office.
