1. As a new student what should I do first?

1. As a new student what should I do first?
a.  Attend a nursing informational meeting or on-line PowerPoint Presentation
b
. Submit a general application to the College Admissions Office.
c.  Take the Math & English Assessment Tests offered by the Assessment Office.
d. Consult a Palomar College Counselor  (Elvia Nunez) at (760)744-1150, ext. 2179 for appt.

 

2. What classes should I take my first semester?
a. Dependent on your assessment tests results, your family and/or work obligations, and the advice of your counselor, take the appropriate Math & English classes (Your goal is to complete English 100 and Intermediate Algebra)
b.  AND Biology 102 which is the prerequisite for the Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology series here at Palomar Colle
ge or a selected Biology & Chemistry class.
3. Can I get on the waiting-list and then complete the prerequisites?
No, you are not eligible to apply to the program until you are enrolled in the last prerequisites).

 

4. How long is the waiting-list? ..
a.  Basic Program:  As of May 2006, the wait list for entry at the basic level is 6-8 semesters. 
b.  LVN-RN Step-Up Program:  3-4 semesters.
5. Do I need Math prior to applying to the Nursing Program?
Yes.  All Palomar College graduates must meet a math competency requirement . The Nursing Program requires the Math as a prerequisite for entry.
