Associate Degree Nursing Diploma RN to ADN

This program was created to facilitate the advancement of Diploma Nurses. By completing this program and obtaining an A. A. degree in Nursing, the Diploma Nurse could then qualify for ADN-BSN step-up programs. (ADN: Associate Degree Nursing: BSN: Bachelors Science Nursing)

  • The student must present a valid active California RN license to be verified by the Nursing Education Department. A copy of the RN license must be submitted to the College's Records Office for inclusion in the student's academic file.
  • The student must have an official transcript of the diploma school coursework sent to Department of Nursing Education at Palomar College.
  • Units accepted from diploma school: 38 units of the 40 units required for the major in nursing at Palomar College may be accepted from the diploma school of nursing.
  • Two units must be earned by completion of, or challenging of, NURS 203, Nursing Foundation II.
  • When the student has completed the General Education requirements for the A. A. Degree and the two units required in nursing, the student will be awarded credit for the 38 units of coursework completed in the diploma school of nursing. 

Special Note: The student must complete all General Education Requirements, including the Multicultural Requirement and Health Education 100. These courses are not waived for Diploma Nurses.
