30-UNIT
OPTION Return
to the Counseling Page
|
The “30 Unit Option” is available to any LVN licensed in the state of
California. The program is
prescribed by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and provides an
RN license for California only. The
college acts as a facilitator. A
maximum of 30 units of nursing and support courses are required to fulfill the
unit requirement for licensure by the BRN.
LVNs desiring this option must complete the following prerequisites: * Time Limits do not apply to 30-unit option candidates and Nursing 203 is not required. If you select this option, this form must accompany your application to the program. |
30 UNIT OPTION DISCLAIMER
| In signing below I am acknowledging that I have been advised of the following possible ramifications in selecting the "30 Unit Option" as a route to advance to RN. | |||||||
| 1. | Licensure as an RN (per the 30-Unit Option) is for California ONLY. | ||||||
| 2.
|
If the NCLEX-RN examination is taken upon completion of the 30-Unit Option (Non-Degree Program) you will be considered a non-graduate of an RN program for the duration of your license.
| 3.
|
Upon completion of this option an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) will not be granted. The school is only the facilitator of the minimum requirements needed to apply for the NCLEX-RN exam. A degree in General Education or other majors may be obtained at any time.
| 4.
|
Employment may be limited. For example, Veterans Administration Hospitals and the military require that an RN have an ADN and/or BSN for employment/commissions respectively.
| 5. | It is uncertain whether BSN programs will accept a "30-unit Option" RN from California for admission. | ||||||
