About These Sound Files
The Real media and Windows media files are intended to be played over the Internet. They are "streaming files." That is, they begin downloading and playing very quickly, and continue to download as they play. They require either the Real player version 8 or above, or the Windows media player version 7 or above. You can download these players free by clicking on either of the following icons:
The latest Real player is called the "Real One" player, and will work fine. When downloading it, be careful not to choose the for-pay Real-One player unless you want it. Look for the "Our Free Player" link about half-way down the page on the left if you are going to download the Real Player.
The mp3 files on this page are intended for download for students who have portable mp3 players. Therefore, their file sizes are given in parentheses after the "download" link for each lesson. They will play over the internet, provided you have a media player configured, but not as quickly as if you first download them. To download on a PC, right-click the "download" link and then choose "Save target as..." On a Mac, control-click the link and then choose "Save target as..."
