Nancy Galli has been a
part of the fashion program since 1979. She was
hired to start the program at Palomar College. Nancy is currently Chairperson of the Design & Consumer Education Department. She has
taken on a variety of roles in her years at Palomar College. She was on
reassignment for 4 years as the Professional Development Coordinator
for the college working with the entire faculty and for 3 years as the
Tenure Review & Evaluations Coordinator for faculty. "I am so grateful for the wonderful, talented faculty
and dedicated students that I get to work with each day."
Nancy began
her education in the fashion industry as a Young Careerist for Buffum's while still in high school. She worked her way
through college working for May Company. She attended the University
of California Santa Barbara and received her degree in Home Economics
with an emphasis in Clothing and Textiles. She then went to California
State University, Long Beach for her teaching credential and Master of
Arts Degree in Home Economics with an emphasis in Clothing and
Textiles. In August of 2007 she graduated with a 2nd Masters Degree in
Spiritual Psychology from University of Santa Monica. She has received
several awards at Palomar College including the Distinguished Faculty
Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Gift of Time Award, and the
Service Award. Her enthusiasm is always high. Her passion these days
is History of Fashion/Costume. She has spent several sabbaticals
studying costume/fabrics in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London, and
Hong Kong. She collects vintage clothing, old dolls, paper dolls, and
accessories. She is currently teaching History of Costume, Field
Studies, Fashion Industry, and enjoys teaching some of these classes
online.
