Cristina has a BFA from Pitzer College in Claremont, California and MFA from San Diego State University in 2000. She has been a part of the faculty at Palomar College for 20 years. Cristina Tejeda worked professionally in the costume and fashion industry for many years. She has even worked on stage costumes designed by the famous costume and fashion designer Bob Mackie. Famous names, prestigious theaters, and well-known films fill her resume. Cristina has costumed for the Santa Fe Opera, the Solid Gold Dancers, as well as for movies such as Bladerunner, Silverado, and more. For her sabbatical, Cristina lived among the Tibetan refugees whose existence, culture, and traditional skills are at risk of extinction. She continues her quest here in the United States to help the Tibetan people by spearheading a program whose aim is to preserve and pass on important cultural traditions and ancient textile practices. Cristina has taught most of the design courses in the program at one time or another. She is currently teaching Costume and Culture, Fashion Illustration, and Basic Sewing and Fashion Studio Design.
