Scholarship Tips

 

1.    Don’t procrastinate.  Meet the published deadlines.

2.    Read and follow all instructions.

3.    Submit clean and neat documents.

4.    Complete the entire scholarship application. (Available at the Palomar College Financial Aid & Scholarships Office and at www.palomar.edu/fa ).

5.    Respond to both essay questions in type-written essay format (handwritten applications will not be accepted).

6.    Submit all required documents (i.e., essay responses and one (1) letter of recommendation).

7.    Request official copy of academic transcripts to be sent to Palomar College Records Office.

a.                High school transcripts for high school seniors or college students with less than 12 college units.

b.               College transcript for all others who completed at least 12 college units from other colleges.

8.    Ask questions when in doubt.

Tips on Responding to Essay Questions

1.    Your responses should be original, well written, honest, and describe something meaningful to you.

2.    Respond to the questions as follows:

*   Major/Goals

Describe why you selected your major area of study and your future academic and career goals.  Express what you want to do professionally and personally with your life.

*   Adversity/Challenges

Describe any adversity or challenges you have overcome and continue to face in your pursuit of your educational goals.
