Federal Work-Study Information

What is Federal Work Study?

The Federal Work-Study Program is a Federal Financial Aid Program offered at Palomar College.  Students must apply and be eligible before starting employment.  The award is earned through part-time employment on campus.  The federal government funds 75% of the program and the district funds the remaining 25%. Please note that for the 2007 - 2008 year, the 25% district match has been waived due to the college's designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).

How do students apply?

The program is need based.  Students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year and answer yes to the Federal Work-Study question on the form to be considered for the program.  There is no guarantee that a student will continue to receive work-study awards from one year to the next.   Students should complete the application process early to be considered.  FWS funds are limited.
