What
Is Videoconferencing?
Videoconferencing
allows two or more people at different distant locations to
see and hear each other, collaborate on a project and share
visual information. In a videoconference meeting you can playback
a VHS or DVD video, record the meeting to VHS, display and
discuss a hard copy document or transparency, give a PowerPoint
presentation, display computer files, display and discuss
information at an Internet Website and more. It also offers
possibilities for an instructor to collaborate with colleagues,
offer courses to students at distant sites, connect with guest
speakers and experts, conduct electronic field trips or interview
a potential new employee.
Videoconferencing
is a time saving and efficient method to hold a meeting without
traveling. Save time by not packing your suitcase, driving
to the airport, finding a parking space, going through airport
security, checking into that hotel overnight, etc. You get
the idea! Think of the things you won't have to do because
you won't have to travel out of town -- for example, filling
out the college travel form and getting it approved, then
waiting for your reimbursement.
