If a student has little or no English, he or she may take four or five basic ESL classes before being ready to enter the Academic ESL Program. 

     Non-native speakers of English in the Academic ESL Program may have to take two or three ESL classes before transferring to classes in the English Department. A passing grade in English 100 is required if you plan to transfer to a four-year institution or get an Associate of Arts degree from Palomar College.

     Fees vary depending upon whether the course is for credit or not, the location of the ESL center, the needs of the student, and the residency of the student.
