COOPERATIVE AGENCIES RESOURCES FOR EDUCATION

CARE is a state funded program with the combined efforts of Palomar Community College, the Welfare Department and the Employment Development Department. Its purpose is to provide educational opportunities and job experience for persons currently receiving TANF/CalWORKS (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) who have been denied access to postsecondary education; to provide necessary support for their academic success and retention; to assist them in their pursuit of career and vocational goals; and finally, to assure their removal from welfare roles.

CARE has been ongoing at Palomar College since 1984.

To qualify for C.A.R.E a student must:

Be eligible for EOP&S

bullet

Be a single head of household student currently receiving TANF/CalWORKS for themselves and/or their children.

Be at least 18 years of age

bullet

Have one child or more under the age of fourteen
