The EME Department offers EMT and Paramedic programs as well as the supporting prerequisites. Our programs are approved by the following agencies:

 

San Diego County

State of California EMSA

National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians

AHA 2010 guidelines.

NOTE: Use of American Heart Association materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.

 

In addition the Paramedic Program is also accredited by:

CoAEMSP #600117.

 

Palomar College is accredited by WASC.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The application periof for the August 2013 Paramedic Program (Class 43) is now closed. Applications were due to the EME Office by Tuesday, April 30, 2013 by 5:00pm. Applications for the January 2014 Paramedic Program (Class 44) will be available in the Fall. Please visit the web site for updates.

 

Please be aware that the EME Dept. will be relocated to the San Marcos Campus (1140 West Mission Rd.) from May 28 to August 11. EME will return to the Escondido Campus (1951 E. Valley Parkway) on Aug. 12.

 

Update:

EME will be encouraging all students to begin a portfolio of your educational, work and ride-along experiences. This portfolio will be used to more accurately see where students are in preparation for paramedic school. At some point, this will become mandatory at Palomar College for entrance into the paramedic program and will begin with EMT experience. The form can be found under the FORMS tab to the right.

 

We also offer the following classes:

  • CPR for Health Care Providers

  • Advanced First Aid (equivalent to the American Red Cross Emergency Response course)

  • EMT Recertification

  • Paramedic Preparation

  • ACLS

  • PEPP

  • PHTLS

  • Paramedic Accreditation workshops

  • RN to paramedic challenge (subject to field availability)

CPR card - $5.00

Emergency Response card - $3.00

A.C.L.S. card - $13.00
