Because the Earth Sciences Department has recently added additional instructors and because it appears unlikely that very many growth classes will be added in the near future, there is a potential scheduling problem within some of our disciplines.

As has been the long standing policy with regard to the assignment of adjunct instructors to our classes, the department should also consider extending that policy to overload and load banked classes taught by our contract instructors.

A contract instructor (based on seniority within his/her primary discipline) should select classes that he/she wishes to teach as part of his/her contract PRIOR to any contract instructor being able to select a class as an overload or load banked class.  After each instructor's contract class load has been satisfied, overload and load banked classes may be chosen based on the instructor's seniority within his/her discipline.  This will be followed by the selection of courses by adjunct instructors.
