Geography 100

Physical geography is a natural science that investigates how and why the surface of the Earth changes. For the physical geographer, the surface includes four, interconnected components:

    1. Atmosphere - the vast, gaseous envelope of air that surrounds the earth
    2. Hydrosphere - the waters of the earth such as oceans, lakes, rivers, and glaciers
    3. Biosphere - all living plants and animals
    4. Lithosphere - the solid, inorganic portion of the earth's crust

In this course we will investigate the four "spheres" with the primary objectives of understanding the spatial distribution of elements within them and the fundamental causes of their continual change.
