Services for the Deaf
The Palomar Community College Disability Resource Center(DRC) is proud to offer highly skilled interpretin services, real time captioning, and note-taking services to meet the academic and vocational needs of deaf and hard of hearing students. Our services are designed to open doors to educational and occupational opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
Our primary purpose is to provide an opportunity for all individuals to gain maximum benefit from their educational experience. Palomar College encourages deaf and hard of hearing students to participate with their peers in the same activities and courses. Special services are provided to meet the unique needs of deaf, deaf/blind and hard of hearing students to help them achieve a successful college career.
Interpreters are provided for classes as well as for other college-related activities. In order to obtain interpreting services for classes, a student must complete an interpreter request form at the time of registration. To acquire interpreting services for other college-related activities and events, a student must fill out a request form at least one week before the event. All interpreting request forms can be found in the DRC office.
