The Adapted Computer Training Center is a state-of-the-art training lab where students with disabilities can learn to access computer systems using the latest adapted hardware and software technologies.  Students can increase productivity, work independently, and improve employability.

Microsoft Office XP is used in conjunction with assistive technology software to prepare students for more advanced courses offered on campus.  Adapted computer courses are offered each semester where students learn to use assistive computer technology.  Please check the class schedule for current Adapted Computer courses.  The courses are SPED 40, SPED 41, and SPED 45L.  Some of the equipment available in the Training Center include:

• Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional Version 6.0 (voice recognition software)
   
• Jaws for Windows Version 4.0 (screen reader for blind students)
   
• Zoomtext Extra Version 7.06 (screen enlargement with speech)
   
• Kurzweil 3000 (scan a book and have it read back to you through the computer)
   
• Openbook Version 4.0 (scan and read software for blind students)

The Training Center is located in room LL-105 in the lower level of the library.
