                   SINGLE SUBJECT PREPARATION IN SOCIAL SCIENCE

1.  Twelve units of lower-division preparation in history including:

 

A)  Six  units in a sequenced survey of American History                   Hist 101 and 102

                               

B)  Six  units in a sequenced survey of Western Civilization  or         Hist 105 and 106 or                                                                World History                                                                                              Hist 107 and 108                                              

                                                                                                                                               

2.  Twelve units of related courses including:

 

A)  Three units of American Government                                                  Posc 102

B)   Three units in  Political Science electives                                           Any 3 unit Political Science course

C)    Six units in Economics including Macro/Micro                            Econ 101 and 102

       Economics

 

3.         Six  units of electives in either upper or lower division

            Psychology and/ or Sociology

 

Supporting Requirements: 

 

A)     Before students may enroll in upper-division History courses, 3 units in composition and writing

       must be completed.

 

B)      Successful completion of the equivalent of the third semester of a foreign language at the college or

        university level.

 

NOTE: For certification of this major/option, students must maintain a 2.7 GPA both in overall work and in all courses

used to complete the major and option.
