Valerie Chau, B.S. Math, MBA Finance, JD Law, CA Teaching Credential:Math. I am an experienced computer science instructor, having taught college level computer science and business courses since 2001. I also tutor students of all ages in math, science, and other subjects. I have been a software engineer since 1987 with expertise including C/C++, Java, and HTML.
My current focus is teaching Linux at Palomar College, plus writing materials for and teaching C++ and Java seminars for OneCourseSource, a commerical training service. I am creating materials for C++'s Standard Template Library, a good example of generic programming, a current trend in computer science.
OneCourseSource also offers Red Hat Linux certification training plus other Linux courses. At Palomar my goal is to increase the knowledge and usage of Linux because Open Source programming and operating systems are the wave of the future.
I very much enjoy teaching college level students because they come in all ages, from all countries and have all kinds of great life experiences to share. My classes are welcoming and supportive - we all work together to learn technology.
