Assessment / Advisement and Orientation is required for all new beginning students!!!!! |
All students must submit an application for admission before an appointment for Assessment, Advisement and Orientation can be made. |
This program is required for all beginning students. |
Appointments can be made by telephone by calling (760) 744-1150 ext. 2383 or 2476 or email us at assessment@palomar.edu. Provide your Palomar ID number, phone number and the day and time you would like for your appointment. |
ASSESSMENT: |
Identifies a student's present level of skills in English, reading and math. |
ADVISEMENT: |
Students
receive their results and are made aware of the level of English,
reading and math which they may register for. |
ORIENTATION: |
The orientation
gives an overview of instructional programs and support services.
Certificate, degree and transfer requirements are discussed to
assist the student with registration. This process, along with
assessment and advisement takes approximately three
hours. |
REGISTRATION: |

PARKING: |
Allow 30 minutes. Get Parking Permit from Campus Police at college entrance. |
TIME: |
Assessment begins promptly at time indicated; no one will be admitted late. |
PREVIOUS |
Documentation
of previous scores (two years allowed). |
RETEST: |
May take assessment once per year; scores are valid for two years. |

CHALLENGE: |
Students may take the assessment once per year. Placement is valid for two years from date of testing. If a student does not feel she/he has been appropriately placed, she/he may challenge all or part of the assessment. Please contact our Student Access/Assessment Center for procedures. |
COMPLAINT: |
If you believe that
assessment, orientation, counseling, or any other matriculation
procedure is being applied in a discriminatory manner, you may file
a complaint to the Dean of Counseling and Matriculation, ext.
