| General education coursework, also
known as breadth or core requirements, is one of the three
components of a degree. Major coursework and electives
make up the other componets of a degree. Your general education pattern
will be dictated by the institution you choose to ultimately
obtain your degree from. For more detailed information about general

CSU General
Education, 2011-2012
- Candidates for the Baccalaureate Degree at a
California State University must meet the general
education requirement of 48 semester units. A
student may complete 39 units of this requirement at
the lower-division level. The remaining 9
units must be completed at the upper-division level.
- The CSU GE pattern, when certified by Palomar
College, will meet all lower-division general
education requirements at any CSU campus.

general education at both the UC
and CSU systems.
