How do I schedule an appointment to see a counselor?

Academic, career, and personal counseling are provided in the Counseling Center. You can schedule an appointment with a counselor by calling the Counseling Center at (760) 891-7511.

During registration periods, counseling is available by appointment and staff are available for quick questions.

During non-registration periods counselors are not assigned. You can schedule an appointment with a particular counselor or request to meet with whomever is available when you are.


Academic Counseling
is available to students seeking assistance with scheduling, or clarification of requirements for graduation or transfer.

Academic counseling provides students with information about the requirements for the certificate and associate degree majors offered at Palomar. Inasmuch as careful course selection is a key to a successful college experience, and is subject to change, it is wise for students to consult with a counselor prior to each registration period.

Career Counseling is available to enrolled and prospective students on a walk-in basis and by individual appointment.

Personal Counseling is available to assist students find solutions to personal problems that may be affecting their academic progress.

The Career Center provides the following services and resources:

  • Short term decision-making classes (Career Search and Major Search)
  • Employment websites
  • On and Off Camus Job Information
  • Resume writing information.
  • Individual career counseling by appointment.
  • A career library
  • A multimedia computer lab with 31 workstations.
  • Computer databases containing information on occupations, colleges, majors and scholarships.
  • Online career assessment "tests" and Internet access.

The Transfer Center provides the following services and resources:

  • Computer programs to assist student research colleges
  • Walk-in counseling and staff assistance
  • Transfer planning and application workshops
  • Representatives from four-year universities are available by appointment
  • An extensive reference library of transfer planning guides, catalogs and articulation agreements.

The Palomar College Assessment Program provides assessment, advisement and orientation services. 
Assessment, Advisement and Orientation Schedule 
                                                                                     
Assessment:   Identifies present level of skills in English, reading and math.  
Advisement:   Immediate results give direction in choosing the appropriate courses. 
Orientation:  Provides information on key topic areas such as the class schedule, college catalog, 
vocational and transfer programs and the registration process.
