Morris Palter 

A native of Canada, Morris has enlightened audiences across North America and Europe as a percussionist and composer.

 As a Ragtime Xylophonist, Morris was an invited guest soloist at the Rocky Mountain Ragtime Festival in Boulder, Colorado, the Orange County RagFest, and The Ragtime Xylophone Institute in Delaware.

 His travels as a percussionist have landed appearances at The Banff Center for the Arts, The Acousmania Festival in Bucharest, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella concert series, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, (where he worked with conductor/composer Pierre Boulez).

 Currently residing in La Jolla, Morris is an Associate in Music at the University of California, San Diego. He also maintains a healthy profile as a performer on the local music scene.

 In 2001, he was both composer and percussionist with The Old Globe Theater’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has performed with the SONOR Ensemble and as a soloist with the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra. He is a member of the percussion group Redfish Bluefish.

Colin McAllister 

On the Palomar College faculty since 2000, Colin is one of the most active contemporary music guitarists in the United States. He has given concerts and lectures throughout the United States and Mexico, performing both as a soloist and with ensembles.

Currently the Executive Director of San Diego New Music, Colin is also a founding member of NOISE, the resident ensemble. He also he directs the Synergy@Home concert series in La Jolla with flutist Cathy Blickenstasff.

Colin holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego, where he is currently a Lecturer in Music. His book The Vanguard Guitar: Etudes and Exercises for the Study of Contemporary Music is published by Productions d’OZ (Québec).
