MARY BARRANGER and DIANE SNODGRASS have been performing regularly as a
piano duo in the San Diego area since 1999, most notably in Carnival of
the Animals with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. They are
celebrated for their mastery of four-hand repertoire of all eras,
particularly of the nineteenth century. Mary Barranger has been the pianist for the San Diego Symphony since 1976 and the pianist for the San Diego Chamber Orchestra since 1998. As a recitalist Barranger has collaborated with such noted musicians as violinist Zina Schiff and vocalist Roberta Peters. Along with Ann Chase and Beth Buckley she was a founding member of the chamber music ensemble Camarada. She has appeared as soloist with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Pops Orchestra, and the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra. She presently teaches piano privately and at Grossmont and Mesa Community Colleges. Diane Snodgrass earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of Southern California where she studied with Malcolm Hamilton and Adam Wybrowski. For several years she was accompanist for the San Diego Master Chorale, working with such luminaries as Robert Shaw and Yoav Talmi. Snodgrass has an active career as a solo performer and chamber musician. She teaches privately and at Palomar Community College. She is the Assistant Director and Accompanist of the First United Methodist Church of San Diego Masterwork Chorale.
