Professional Development
Professional Development
continues to offer BSI/HSI sponsored workshops.
Spring 2010 semester, Dr. Sandra Darling came to
Palomar to present a workshop on the role of
culture in learning, and on April 2, Dr. Brock
Klein from Pasadena City College offered a
workshop on Faculty Inquiry Groups.
In addition, the Professional
Development Office strives to continually expand
and adjust its regular semester workshop
schedule to respond to the needs of faculty and
students. In Spring 2010, PD workshops were
offered on the college experience of Latino/a
students, on contemporary Native American
culture, on understanding “race,” and on
understanding cultural difference through a
simulation game. There were seminars on students
with disabilities, on understanding mental
illness, and on understanding the challenges a
media-and-computer saturated student population
poses. Every semester, through the staff at
Academic Technology, faculty can attend a broad
variety of seminars teaching faculty how to
integrate various tools into their courses.
